Bio

Jade Lewis Vance is a ceramic artist and sculptor practicing in Traverse City, Michigan. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from West Virginia University in 2026 and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics and a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations from Ohio University.

Jade creates fragmented figurative ceramic sculpture influenced by impactful human interactions in her life.

Her work highlights a connection between the figure, human behavior, time, and memory. 

Jade currently teaches ceramics at Northwestern Michigan College and Clayspace TC. She also has experience teaching ceramics and foundations courses at West Virginia University. 

Jade works as a gallery assistant and curator at Synchronicity Gallery in Glen Arbor, Michigan, where she is also represented. Her work has been exhibited across Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, and West Virginia.

Through her teaching and gallery work, Jade is passionate about making ceramics accessible and encouraging people of all experience levels to engage with clay.
